Real Women Talking about Marriage Questionnaire

Since the inception of Real Women Talking, we have been asked countless times to start a dialogue about “real marriage.” So, we are listening to the chorus of women who want to dish about the “real deal” of marriage today. We ask that you reflect on marriage: all its good, bad and ugly parts, and also, if you are a parent, reflect on its impact too. We will NOT share any names, only aliases, this time around. We know how sacred your responses are here! We also know that the “need” to vent and reflect on real marriage today is great. We are here to start the conversation and while doing so, frame some issues for us real women.

1.  What has surprised you about marriage?

2.  What didn’t you expect?

3.  What advice would you give someone who is getting married now?

4.  What are the negative, unspoken problems in marriage today?

5.  Is marriage an out-dated social convention?

6.  What would you like to improve in your marriage?

7.  What do you “hate” about being married?

If you are a parent, please also answer questions 8 and 9:

8.  How has your marriage been positively and/or negatively affected by parenthood?

9.  Does your partner support or hinder your parenting?
